Outdoor Laser Sensor Field Test with LDL-T Laser Distance Sensor

Outdoor Laser Sensor Field Test with LDL-T Laser Distance Sensor

Overview of the Field Measurement

To evaluate the real-world performance of our LDL-T laser distance sensor, Meskernel conducted an outdoor measurement test under bright sunlight. The purpose of this experiment was to verify the reliability, precision, and stability of our outdoor laser sensor when used in strong ambient light conditions.

During the test, the measured distance was 5477 mm, and the ambient illuminance reached 91.1k lux, equivalent to direct midday sunlight. The LDL-T module performed exceptionally well, maintaining 1 mm accuracy and consistent signal quality throughout the measurement process.

The LDL-T is engineered to operate effectively even under high illumination levels, which makes it an ideal outdoor laser sensor for industrial automation, agricultural monitoring, and environmental sensing tasks.

Product Features

The LDL-T outdoor laser sensor combines advanced optical design with compact engineering to deliver high precision in a remarkably small form factor. Measuring only 27.87 × 17.03 × 7.01 mm and weighing just 3 g, this module is easy to integrate into portable or embedded systems. Despite its miniature size, it achieves a measurement range of up to 100 meters with excellent consistency and reliability.

In addition, the sensor supports a measurement frequency of up to 100 Hz, enabling rapid and continuous distance data acquisition for dynamic applications such as robotic navigation, outdoor mapping, and industrial monitoring. Its strong anti-interference performance ensures reliable operation even under high ambient light or reflective surfaces, making it an ideal laser sensor for distance measurement in complex outdoor environments.

Testing Conditions and Equipment

The field test was carried out in open sunlight at an illumination of 91.1k lux, recorded by a precision lux meter. This setup aimed to simulate real outdoor conditions, where sensors often face interference from direct sunlight or reflective surfaces.

Even in such bright conditions, the LDL-T outdoor laser distance sensor successfully measured the 5477 mm distance with excellent repeatability, demonstrating its ability to suppress optical noise and maintain accurate phase detection.

Performance Insights and Advantages

The key takeaway from this test is the stability and accuracy of the LDL-T laser distance sensor in challenging outdoor environments. Unlike conventional sensors that may fail or fluctuate under sunlight, the LDL-T module uses advanced phase-shift laser measurement technology, which significantly enhances signal integrity.

Key performance highlights observed during the outdoor test include:

  • High measurement accuracy of ±1 mm
  • Stable operation under 91.1k lux sunlight
  • Consistent data output without interruption
  • Compact size and easy integration with external control systems

These characteristics make the LDL-T module a reliable laser sensor for distance measurement in outdoor and industrial conditions.

Applications in Outdoor Measurement

Thanks to its robust optical design and signal processing capabilities, the LDL-T outdoor laser distance sensor is suitable for applications such as:

  • Structural deformation monitoring
  • Smart agriculture and irrigation systems
  • Vehicle positioning and collision avoidance
  • Outdoor automation and logistics tracking

By maintaining reliable performance even in strong light, the LDL-T expands the practical use of laser distance sensors beyond controlled indoor environments.

Conclusion

This outdoor field test demonstrates that the LDL-T laser distance sensor is not only compact and precise but also capable of maintaining high accuracy under intense sunlight. Measuring a distance of 5477 mm at 91.1k lux without performance loss confirms the sensor’s stability and adaptability.

As industries increasingly adopt laser-based distance measurement systems, the LDL-T stands out as a high-performance outdoor laser distance sensor ready for real-world deployment.
